The paper reveals the processes of formation of religious and social views of one of the ideologists of the early Old Belief and highlights prerequisites for changes in ideological principles of the Russian church thought during the Patriarch Nikon’s reform period. It analyzes philosophical understanding by Ivan Neronov of the most important worldview paradigms, including his attitude to the tsar’s power and presentation of the tsar’s image in the Russian religious environment. Conclusions are made on connection between formation of the concept of righteousness of the tsar’s dynasty representative and degree of his intervention in the internal church affairs. The philosophical ideas of the Eastern patristic heritage influence on this process is determined and philosophical views that determine attitude of the medieval Russian people to understanding the rights and responsibilities of the tsar’s ideal image are outlined. Stable relation between the Neronov’s social origin and formation of his views on the moral component of the medieval Russian Christian doctrine and its eschatological part is demonstrated. Particular attention is paid to the prospects of using the Greek Church theological experience in view of its supposed loss of the Christian doctrine purity. Connection between religious principles and personal moral qualities of the Orthodox people is indicated.
