The paper considers the image of Boyaryshkin, student of the Moscow Technical School, in the “And Quiet Flows the Don” published text and its manuscripts. Boyaryshkin’s story evolution in manuscripts and various editions of the novel was traced. Arguments are provided indicating that in the early edition of the novel he was a student at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute. It is concluded that Boyaryshkin in the early novel edition was not an episodic character. It was planned to show his participation in the 1917 events.
