The paper focuses on the issues of the collision of sea and land civilizations, the fundamental law of geopolitics about the endless war for the Rimland coastal zone. We investigated the main military conflicts of the XXI century — Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, South Ossetia taking into account their final political component. Findings of research show that modern local military conflicts occur in the coastal zone. As a result, we propose the ways of increasing the political influence of Russia on the world stage through the creation and participation in alliances with other countries, as well as specialized research institutions on foreign policy issues
