The article studies the distinguishing features of the technical English language which are considered through the prism of the challenges related to translating the part of technical discourse represented by technical manuals. Due to the reason that some students tend to use electronic translators the need in teaching of how to analyze and edit the translation versions made by the Internet-translators is recognized. The comparative analysis of certain stylistic differences (lexical, grammatical, and syntactical) and the tips for translation suggested in this work are aimed at better understanding and interpreting the technical document of the given format.
