Using the example of the classical semiotic approach to the problem of identifying the source of communication, the paper considers insufficiency in the established idea of communication being a process of transmitting messages from one person to another. Analyzing M. Heidegger’s approach, it could be concluded that Being is the source of every message, which manifests itself through language. Consequently, communication has the ontological basis, and the author acts as an intermediary between this basis and the message recipient. However, this position is not adequately reflecting versatility and complexity of the message exchange process, since a message acquires the overly metaphysical character. The J. Derrida deconstruction and his proposed metaphor for mail bring clarity. Based on the deconstruction methods, a hypothesis is developed about the “game of desire” that dominates in the communication process. Thanks to comparative analysis of the M. Heidegger and J. Derrida approaches, the paper presents the author’s view of the communication model in the textual desire context.
