Computer programs in teaching Russian

as a foreign language

The article provides an extensive classification of types and kinds of teaching programs

and computer learning materials. The reader will find analysis of programs, their specif-

ic advantages being described according to: 1) functional purpose; 2) the way the stu-

dent proceeds (linear, branching, and mixed); 3) its ability to adapt to personality of a

student (adaptive, partially adaptive, non-adaptive; 4) degree of interactivity and amount

of multimedia; 5) teaching goal. The author offers practical guidance for choosing best

types of programs meeting individual requirements of the students.
