The purpose of the study was to reveal the essence of the “color revolutions”, their consequences, and to determine the role of youth in these events. To address the problems under consideration, we used the achievements of synergetics, i.e. the model of the bifurcation point, existentialism, i.e. the concept of a “border situation”, and a systematic approach. Findings of research show that the involvement of young people in such radical processes is due to a number of reasons: firstly, the characteristics of group dynamics and psychology of this social group; secondly, the genesis and methods of organizing the “color revolution”; thirdly, the transformation of youth into a kind of factor of the destruction of the social system in its transitional state. Within the research, we stressed the necessity of forming a set of measures by the state aimed at preventing the involvement of young people in the "color revolutions". Finally, we advanced and substantiated the thesis, according to which an important way to neutralize the participation of young people in such destructive actions is the development in Russia of its own national idea that meets the realities of the 21st century.
