Social and philosophical comprehension of tourism in the context of intercultural communication modernities

The paper presents the analysis of the inclusion of tourism as a modern social institution in the global system of intercultural communications. The phenomenon of tourism is considered as the focus of relations between different ethnic groups with their diversity of cultural and religious identities. The functional significance of tourism for social activity of people in modern societies is revealed. The role of tourism and tourism industry as the foundation of globalizing societies with deepening communicative ties of different peoples in a multicultural world is shown. Philosophical concepts of the Russian and foreign thinkers comprehending tourism as an actual social phenomenon and a peculiar form of modern person activity are considered. Special attention is paid to ethnic and religious tourism as the most important components of the tourism industry development. Ethnic and religious tourism, pilgrimage is considered in the context of intercultural communications of representatives of different ethnic groups and religions. The characteristic features of ethnic, religious and pilgrimage tourism on the example of the countries of the Caspian basin, in particular in the Russian Caspian sea region, are highlighted. Tourism developing in the Caspian region is shown as an important factor for the development of interreligious and intercultural relations of numerous ethnic and cultural groups living in the region.
