The article considers a fresh approach to the background of German National Socialism. It is proved that many of the origins of Hitler’s ideas lie in the Imperial politics and ideology of England. The Nazis admired British imperialism, regarding it as a model and justification for their own aggressive plans in Eastern Europe. The views of T. Carlyle and H. Chamberlain anticipated Hitler’s hatred of democracy, the multi-party system, the working people, the parliamentary system, the French bourgeois revolution, and racially inferior peoples. It is shown that both Carlyle and Chamberlain, who firmly believed in the saving power of the dictatorship of the leader, are truly the spiritual fathers of National Socialism
