The article justifies the urgency of training environmentally oriented future engineers. The necessary provisions of this training are analyzed. The importance of ecological outlook, responsibility, political, economic, legal landmarks is emphasized. The importance of interdisciplinary, systemic, and integrated approaches in the development of ecologically safe technical systems and technologies is accentuated. The difficulties of introducing environmentally friendly technical systems into industrial production are indicated. It is demonstrated that the environmental training of future engineers requires not only theoretical orientation, but also practical forms of work with students. The significance of the principal forms of work of the department «Ecology and Industrial Safety» and their ecological orientation are shown. The novelty of this article is foreign methods for developing environmentally safe technical systems and technologies
