Its alternatives - anthropocentrism and biocentrism are critically examined. It is shown that anthropocentrism is based on the classical science; biocentrism - on the nonclassical, ecocentrism - on nonclassical andpostnonclassical. The basic characteristics of ecocentrism are singled out and its definition is given from philosophical and scientific point of view.
