Fundamentalism in religion, science and politics: A short review

The article analyses evolution of the concept "fundamentalism" both in academic and non-scientific discourse. It describes metamorphosis, which it underwent, originated as a highly specialized term, denoting groups of American evangelicals, who proclaimed the need to return to the fundamental foundations of Christian values and faith. By now the term is used for a wide range of socio-political trends. It proved the correctness of the use of the term to social and political movements and currents and incorrect - to science.
