The article explores the impact of the second socio-technological revolution during the transition from a traditional society to an industrial one on the development of the Russian society in the early 20th century. Two main components of the socio-technological revolution are singled out: techno-technological and social. The question of whether the techno-technological revolution that took place in Russia in the early 20th century was the main or additional factor of the Russian revolutions is studied. This issue is considered against the background of such events in Russian history as the Russo-Japanese War, the 1905–1907 Revolution, the Stolypin Reform, the Lensky Execution, the First World War, and others
