The present article is devoted to the problem of special lexical items genesis investigation during the prescientific and protoscientific periods on the basis of welding concept formation. The paper deals with the analysis of the main principles occurring when common words assume special meanings, with tracing the process of lexical items transition from the Language for General Purposes into the Language for Special Purposes with examining the Old Slavic and Proto-Slavic roots in the Russian and Old English forms in the English languages (fixing their first mentioning in lexicographical sources and observing their origin since Proto-Indo-European roots). At the same time the influence of extralin-guistic factors on the process described above is being researched.
