Russian higher education in the information society

The paper considers the changes taking place in the Russian higher education system that are associated with Russia transitioning from an industrial to information society (knowledge society), over the course of which most social institutes are transformed. We note that there exists an objective necessity to reform the higher education system in Russia, brought about by the requirements to ensure an evolutionary transition to the new type of society and to form a competitive and multifaceted personality of the information society age
